Paver sealing in Idaho Falls and eastern Idaho
Sealing locks the joint sand, resists staining, and — if you want it — gives pavers the deep wet look that makes the colour read the way it did the day it was delivered.
What sealing actually does
Three things. It stabilises the polymeric sand in the joints so it resists washout and weed growth. It puts a barrier between the paver surface and the things that stain it — grill grease, leaf tannin, motor oil, de-icing residue. And depending on the product, it changes how the surface looks.
What it doesn't do is make pavers waterproof or structural. A sealed paver on a failing base still sinks. Sealing is maintenance, not a repair.
Wet look or natural finish
The finish is the decision most people spend the longest on, and the one worth seeing in person before choosing.
What a sealing job includes
- Full surface clean — pressure wash, and stain treatment where needed
- Weed and moss removal from joints
- Joint sand replaced or topped up where it has washed out
- Repair or reset of any settled or lifted pavers, quoted separately if needed
- Full dry time before sealer goes down
- Sealer applied in even coats to the finish you chose

Common questions
How often should pavers be sealed?
Every three to five years for most residential surfaces. Driveways and heavily shaded or heavily used areas sit at the shorter end of that range.
Does sealing make pavers slippery?
Not meaningfully in normal use, even with a wet-look product. Where slip matters most — pool surrounds, steps, entries — a grit additive can be mixed into the sealer.
Can you seal pavers another company installed?
Yes. It's one of the most common calls we get, and there's no requirement that we installed the original surface.
When is the best time of year to seal in eastern Idaho?
Late spring through early fall, when you can count on a stretch of dry weather and moderate temperatures for cleaning, drying and curing. September is a popular slot.
